Ring Type Joint Gaskets

We are Ring Type Joint Gaskets manufacturer & supplier in India. A Ring Type Joint (RTJ) gasket is a forged ring that fits into the machined groove of an RTJ flange. The ring-type joint gaskets have octagonal or oval cross-sections. RTJ gaskets are often utilized for high-pressure, high-temperature applications. It is widely utilized in the refining, petrochemical, and oilfield drilling sectors. Ring type joints are made in accordance with ASME B16.20. They are dimensionally compatible with flanges manufactured to ASME B 16.5, ASME B16.47, and API 6A specifications.

We are made in totally updated facilities with strict quality controls to ensure product consistency and adherence to requirements, standards, and drawings. As the market leader in gasketing and sealing solutions, we continue to meet the demands of the industry through our global network of Champion Authorised Partners.

Soft material gaskets are dimensioned according to ASME B16.21 for use with ASME B16.5 flanges. Non-metallic gaskets are employed in Raised Face (RF), Flat Face (FF), Welding Neck (WN), and Slip On (SO) flanges, as well as IS, DIN, and BS standards. We also produce to client specifications.

Type of Ring Type Joints Gasket

  • R Type
  • RX Type
  • BX Type

R Type

This is the basic type of RTJ gasket and widely used in petrochemical industries. They are classified as two types base on the cross-section. They are

  • Oval
  • Octagonal

The original shape of the R type gasket is oval. The octagonal RTJ is a variation of the oval form that improves sealing. R type rings are utilized for flange ratings ranging from Class 150 to 2500. The gasket's surface finish cannot be rougher than 63µ inch. When compared to oval type gaskets, octagonal type gaskets are extensively employed due to their superior sealing effectiveness.

RX Type

  • RX type gaskets fit into the same groove diameters as R type gaskets for interchangeability. The RX gasket is broader than the R type gasket. As a result, the flange face-to-face separation will be greater than with a R type gasket. RX type gaskets are often specified for up to Class 5000 flanges. The gasket's surface finish cannot be rougher than 63µ inch. The gasket's asymmetric cross-section allows it to self-energise. This type of gasket is extensively utilized in applications that demand more efficient sealing while also resisting vibrations and stress loadings.

BX Type

  • BX type gaskets are only compatible with API 6 BX type flanges. These gaskets are utilized for Class ratings ranging from 2000 to 20,000 psi. On each sealing face of the BX type gasket, there is a pressure channel hole for pressure equalization. The gasket's surface finish cannot be rougher than 32µ inch. Type BX gaskets are incompatible with R or RX gaskets. The groove on a flange that fits a BX gasket differs in dimension from that of R and RX gaskets.

Type of Ring Type Joints Gasket

  • RRing type joints are used to seal high pressures of up to 20,000 psi.
  • Ring type joints gaskets can be made from a number of materials depending on the process application and flange grade.
  • Ring type joints gaskets are an exceptionally dependable and strong seal.

Type of Ring Type Joints Gasket

  • Ring-type gaskets are unsafe for reuse due to the plastic flow of the ring joint in the flange faces that creates the seal.
  • It is quite expensive when compared to other types of gaskets.
  • For successful installation, expert labour is necessary.

People also ask

  • What is a ring type joint gasket?
  • Ring type joint gasket (RTJ Gasket) is a high integrity sealing gasket that can withstand high temperatures and pressures. It is often used in the petroleum sector, oilfield drilling, pressure vessel joints, pipelines, and valves.
  • How many types of RTJ gaskets are there?
  • RTJ Gaskets are available in R, RX, and BX types, as well as oval and octagonal shapes. R solid sections (oval and octagonal) are designed to accommodate conventional ring joint flanges with trapezoidal grooves. Types RX and BX include sophisticated bevelled edge portions for wellhead pressures more than 700 bar.
  • When to use a ring type joint?
  • The RTJ flange (Ring Type Joint) is designed for high-pressure and/or high-temperature pipeline applications. This makes them the needed standard for API specification flanges. Oil field valves, pipework assemblies, and pressure vessel couplings with exceptional integrity are all examples of applications.
  • Can you reuse a ring joint gasket?
  • We do not recommend this practice. A gasket's function is to conform to flange high and low spots when compressed, and its ability to reseal decreases after it is compressed.
  • What is the difference between oval and octagonal RTJ?
  • Both gaskets seal by pressing securely into the groove's sidewalls as they compress. However, the octagonal gasket has a larger sealing contact area because the full 23-degree-tapered edge of the gasket ring makes contact with the mating groove face.
