Soft Gasket

We Are Soft Gasket Manufacturers, Suppliers and Exporters in India. Soft Gasket is a word used to describe a gasket that compresses readily under modest bolt loads. Soft gaskets are used as heat exchanger gaskets, compressor and bonnet valve gaskets and in pipe flange applications etc. As leading gasket manufacturers and suppliers Ordinem Engitech Pvt. Ltd. offers varieties of Virgin Teflon, filled Teflon® and expanded Teflon® out of the following soft gasket materials:

Soft Gasket
  • PTFE, Unfilled Teflon® Gaskets
  • Virgin grade PTFE (Teflon®) gaskets are made from 100% pure material and are suitable for most common applications. It is exceptionally soft and formable, making it ideal for chemically resistant seals and gaskets. It is manufactured directly from the resin producer and has never been shaped. It offers the best physical and electrical insulating qualities and is more resistant to creep (compression) under load. Compared to mechanical grade PTFE, virgin grade PTFE is whiter.
  • PTFE gaskets are made from a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene composed entirely of carbon and fluorine. It is naturally hydrophobic (repelling water and water-containing compounds) and has one of the lowest friction coefficients of any material. PTFE has high dielectric characteristics and provides great thermal insulation across a temperature range of -200°C to 260°C. Most corrosive liquids, vapours, and gases have no effect on PTFE, which is the most chemically resistant material known.
  • PTFE gasket materials provide exceptional chemical resistance for applications requiring cleanliness and non-contamination.
  • Expanded PTFE, Unfilled Teflon® Gaskets
  • Expanded PTFE (Teflon®) gasket material is created by expanding virgin PTFE through a process that results in a uniform and highly fibrillated microstructure with equal tensile strength in all directions. This means that expanded Teflon® possesses no structural weakness or a "grain". Expanded Teflon® has the same chemical resistance as Virgin Teflon® but without the need for additions. Expanded PTFE is significantly softer and more flexible than ordinary PTFE gaskets, thus it adapts well to uneven and rough surfaces. The material is simpler to compress, and it reduces creep and cold flow. Expanded PTFE gaskets are made from a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene composed entirely of carbon and fluorine. It is naturally hydrophobic (repelling water and water-containing compounds) and has one of the lowest friction coefficients of any material.
  • Expanded PTFE has strongly dielectric characteristics and provides good thermal insulation across a temperature range of -200°C to 260°C. PTFE is the most chemically resistant material and can withstand caustic liquids, vapours, and gases. Expanded PTFE gaskets offer exceptional chemical resistance for tasks requiring cleanliness and non-contamination.
  • PTFE, Filled Teflon® Gaskets
  • Filled PTFE (Teflon®) gaskets are made from PTFE which integrates additives and fillers in order to improve the performance of the gasket. This improves the gasket’s ability to wear and enhances its unique combination of chemical, physical and electrical properties. Filled Teflon® is the most common type of PTFE gasket for industrial use as it exhibits improved mechanical strength compared to Virgin PTFE. Glass, carbon and fibre particles are typical fillers that are used to enhance the mechanical strength of the gasket depending on the application.
  • Our most common PTFE filled grades include:

PTFE, Glass Filled Gaskets

  • Added in various amounts (5% to 40%)
  • Increases compressive strength
  • Rigidity and wear
  • Reduces creep and cold flow
  • Minimal effect on chemical and electrical properties
  • Used in applications to decrease cold flow

PTFE, Carbon Filled Gaskets

  • Added in various amounts (10% to 35%)
  • Increases compressive strength
  • Hardness, wear and load properties
  • Good chemical resistance
  • Various types and amounts of carbon can be added to alter conductivity

PTFE, Graphite Filled Gaskets

  • Added in various amounts (5% to 15%)
  • Reduces coefficient of friction
  • Reduces initial wear
  • Increases strength
  • Compatible with most hydraulic fluids
